To welcome the month of October, we’re celebrating with our favorite fall ingredient, pumpkin. This may be (scratch that), this is the best use of pumpkin of all time. Seriously, go make this right now — it literally tastes just like pumpkin pie. And like all of our recipes, you would never guess it’s actually full of good-for-you ingredients and healthy enough to eat for breakfast.
Why We Love It:
Pumpkin is a great source of fiber, rich in carotenoids, and one of the best-known sources of beta-carotene, a powerful antioxidant which gives orange vegetables and fruits their bright color, and converts into a useable form of vitamin A. Plus, when combined with homemade almond milk (plant-protein), almond butter (healthy fats), frozen banana (antioxidants) and pumpkin pie spice (delicious), it’s totally crave-worthy.

Fall Favorite Pumpkin Pie Smoothie Recipe
Makes: 1 16oz shake
1/2 cup pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling!) — we like Farmer's Market Organic Pumpkin Puree
3/4 cup almond milk (homemade or look for brands that are carrageenan free)
1 frozen banana
1 tbs almond butter
2 medjool dates, pitted
1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
ice as needed
Hot & Healthy Tip:
Decrease the almond milk to 1/2 cup and add 1-2 extra frozen bananas to thicken it up for a pumpkin pie smoothie bowl. Top with pumpkin granola, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, fresh banana, and breakfast/ lunch/ dinner is served.
