It’s no secret that we absolutely love green smoothies. Actually, making them taste good (really good), is one of our specialties. Today (lucky for you) we’re sharing our latest green smoothie obsession. If you’re looking for a go-to green smoothie recipe that’s low in sugar, completely banana free, nutrient dense, and melt-in-your mouth delicious, then this is your drink.
Healthy Ingredient Highlight: Pear
We’re slightly obsessed with this incredibly underrated superfruit. Rich in fiber and low GI, pears make a great choice for blood sugar regulation and anyone watching their current sugar intake. Loaded with vitamin C, E, B2, copper, and potassium, pears help protect the body from oxidative damage. And when paired with creamy avocado, the combination is killer.
Makes: 1 smoothie
1 - 1 ½ cups water (coconut water would be amazing here as well)
1 bosc pear
1 extra large handful spinach
1 extra large handful kale
1 small handful mint
¼ - ½ ripe avocado
1 scoop SunWarrior warrior blend protein powder in vanilla (or your choice of protein)
1 tbsp chia seeds (optional)
1 tsp matcha (optional)
ice as needed
Add all ingredients to a high powered blender and blend until smooth.
-High powered blenders like the Vitamix are best for blending greens into a nice and smooth velvety consistency, but other blenders will work as well. If you don’t have a high powered blender, we recommend making your smoothie in batches and blending as you go. Start by adding the water and pear first, then continue adding more ingredients.
-To make thicker, use less liquid and add more ice
-To make thinner, use more liquid.
-To make it sweeter, add another pear or a few drops stevia to taste.
