To abstain from or rid the body of toxic or unhealthy substances.
Usually involves deprivation, restriction, withdrawal, and in most cases extreme hunger.
Often follows a rough weekend, holiday parties & late nights.
synonyms include: insanity

But the kind that nourishes you from the inside out and revitalizes your mind, body & soul.

Our detox philosophy:
Forget about the numbers, the calories, the diets and all the ‘rules.’
Our focus is on feeling good — really good (cause girls’ gotta eat and YOU do too!).

Detox without deprivation
Success without starvation
Results without restriction

Soul Shot detox week

The concentrated root base of this shot (turmeric & ginger) — fights off viruses, recharges your immune system, and decreases inflammation. While freshly squeezed lemon juice promotes alkalinity and adds vitamin C. A kiss of cayenne spikes your metabolism and the apple cider vinegar gives you a daily dose of probiotics — perfect to get those digestive juices flowing, cleanse your entire system and flush out toxins.

Take a Look:

TURMERIC ROOT
Potent anti-inflammatory agent that may work as well as many anti-inflammatory drugs without the harsh side effects. The active ingredient in turmeric is curcumin, a polyphenol with powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Polyphenols have the ability to stabilize free radicals, which can damage the body’s cells. Because of it’s antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, turmeric is great for healing and disease prevention. Studies have shown that turmeric blocks the formation of some cancers, Alzheimer's disease, and Arthritis. Turmeric also helps to decrease muscle soreness after a workout, neutralize free radicals which can lead to wrinkles, cellulite, and fatigue, and also acts as a natural liver detoxifier.

GINGER ROOT
Great for alleviating nausea and soothing upset stomachs, ginger root relaxes the smooth muscle of the digestive tract and stimulates the secretion gastric juices therefore making it the ultimate remedy for digestive ailments. Known as “the universal medicine” in Ayurveda, ginger is also a powerful antioxidant, a natural decongestant and antihistamine, and stimulates the circulation of the blood making it perfect to help treat a cold or knock out a fever.

LEMON
Despite their acidic taste, lemons have an alkalizing effect on our internal pH levels making them ideal for cleansing and detoxification. Lemon juice also stimulates the release of bile and digestive enzymes, purifies the liver, hydrates the lymph, and is a natural diuretic. Notoriously high in Vitamin C, one of nature’s key water soluble antioxidants, lemons help neutralize free radicals and therefore protect our cells from damage. Drinking lemon juice mixed with honey brings a natural incandescent glow to the skin.

MANUKA HONEY
Native to New Zealand’s North Island, manuka honey is 100 times stronger than other honeys when it comes to healing and fighting infection. It’s anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties fight bacteria that causes colds. As a natural antiseptic, it is used topically to heal wounds and burns. When ingested, manuka honey aids in bloating, acid reflux, indigestion, stomach ulcers, irritable bowel syndrome, and other digestive ailments.

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR
Stimulates circulation and aids in detoxification of the liver and lymph nodes. It also contains live probiotics which promote healthy microflora (bacteria) in the gut. When taken regularly, ACV helps with gastrointestinal discomfort, indigestion, and can help clear up chronic acid reflux. In ancient cultures, ACV was often used to purify the blood. Aside from it’s detoxification and digestion benefits, ACV also possesses antimicrobial and antiseptic properties therefore helping to ward off sickness and alleviating skin problems. Apple cider vinegar may also aid in weight loss by stabilizing the blood sugar for a longer period and helping to control appetite.

CAYENNE
Rich in antioxidants, cayenne is valued by many herbalists as one of the most potent herbs in the plant kingdom. High in vitamin C, betacarotene, lutein and selenium, cayenne works to stimulate and benefit the circulatory, cardiac, and digestive system. Talk about a super herb!

And now for the recipe:

Our Signature Immune Boosting Soul Shot
Makes: 2oz.
Ingredients:

1 tbs raw apple cider vinegar
1 tbs turmeric juice (made from fresh turmeric root) or 1/2 tsp powdered turmeric
1 tbs ginger juice (made from fresh ginger root) or 1/2 tsp powdered ginger
1-2 tbs fresh lemon juice
1 tsp manuka honey (look for 100% raw premium manuka honey UMF 16+ for it’s maximum healing benefits)
pinch or two of cayenne pepper

Directions:
Place 1 tsp manuka honey in a glass measuring cup. Add a few drops of boiling water (just enough to melt the honey) and stir until honey is dissolved. Add remaining ingredients and stir to combine. Pour into a shot glass and bottoms up.

This is potent! Follow up with 16oz of room temperature water.

To save time, we juice the ginger and turmeric beforehand. To make the ginger juice, follow your juicers instructions or if you don’t have a juicer, peel and blend fresh ginger root with 8oz water. Strain using a nutmilk bag or cheesecloth. Discard pulp or save it to use in compost. To make the turmeric juice, repeat using fresh turmeric root. Store any extra juice in an airtight jar in the fridge for up to 5 days. Use the remaining juice to make shots throughout the week.
