I’m still not quite sure how it happened, but there’s only 4 months left in 2016. If your year has been anything like ours (a total whirlwind of not-so-comfortable divine assignments stacked not-so-neatly one after another), you’re going to love this post - 6 ways to make the remainder of your year really (really) awesome.
6 ways to make the remainder of your year really (really) awesome:
1. Commit to your happiness. Then, act accordingly.
Physically write this down on your calendar: “I am committed to my happiness”. Starting today, act accordingly. As simplistic as this sounds, we as humans, hardly ever do this. However, discipline and commitment are the common denominators separating those who actually live their dreams and those who live in mediocrity and regret. Recommit to yourself and YOUR happiness every single day and you will live a life beyond your wildest dreams.
2. Greet your day with gratitude.
We talk about gratitude a lot (see here, here and here), but there’s absolutely no better way to put your head in the right space than to imbibe yourself in gratitude. Rather than, scratch that, in addition to, making a gratitude list (which you know we’re huge proponents of), greet the day with gratitude by saying “thank you” the moment you wake up. Thank you for your life, your body, and another day here on Earth to be the greatest expression of yourself you can possibly be.
3. Expand your inner circle.
You are a direct reflection of the 5 people you spend the most time with. If that makes you even a little bit anxious or your initial thought is, “holy f*ck”, be honest with yourself, is it time to expand your inner circle?
One of the coolest things about living in a tech driven world of 7 billion people, is that you literally get to handpick your friends from anywhere on Earth. While we do have some hesitations about meeting people online (have you seen catfish??), we’ve met some of our closest friends via the interweb.
4. “Outsource” or stop doing at least one thing you hate doing.
There’s room for creativity here. This could mean you stop: dating losers, working weekends and staying out until 2am; or it could mean, you finally hire someone to clean your house so you don’t have to. Both have the same end goal. Rid your life of the things you don’t like to create the space for what you do.
5. Attend a live event or workshop.
One of my absolute favorite things about being in California is the plethora of insanely cool events happening literally all the time. Since I’ve been here I’ve seen Danielle LaPorte, Deepak Chopra, Eckhart Tolle, Kathryn Budig, Gabby Bernstein and actually have plans to see comedian Pete Holmes and Rob Bell live tonight in LA. Even if you’re not in California, I guarantee there’s something awesome and interesting happening relatively near you. Although we love a good livestream, we’re challenging you to commit to attending at least one event live, in person, to experience that real life real time connection. And it doesn’t have to be some big grandiose event either (unless you want it to be). Lululemon hosts free community events almost every week.
6. Do something that makes you extremely uncomfortable.
It’s human nature to hold onto what makes us feel comfortable. However, it’s that magical place outside the boundaries of your comfort zone where real growth (we’re talking expansive soul growth) happens, doors miraculously open and new opportunities suddenly arise. Beginning today, make it a point to finish out your year pushing your boundaries, testing your limits and going beyond what you currently consider comfortable. This could mean striking up a conversation with someone new once a week, taking a class you would never ever take, hopping on a flight to Melbourne, Australia, or joining your local Toast Masters. Again, be creative here - it’s totally and completely up to you.
